Description padraig.obriain 2002-03-21 10:13:51 UTC
I start help and click on "Manual Pages" and then on "Applications". It
takes between 10 and 15 seconds for the next page, which is headed Manual
pages: Applications to appear.

This page seems to have two links with the same text for most but not all
of the entries. The first 6 entries are

24to8(1) 24to8(1) ImageMagick(1)
Magick-config(1) Xprt(1) Xprt(1)
Comment 1 Mikael Hallendal 2002-03-21 10:20:30 UTC
do you have a directory multiple times in the manpath?
I think that could make this happen
Comment 2 padraig.obriain 2002-03-21 10:53:28 UTC
The multiple entries are because directories were in the MANPATH
twice.

Even with the directories present once, it still seems sluggish; I
acknowledge that I do have 6 directories in my MANPATH.
Comment 3 Mikael Hallendal 2002-03-21 11:00:44 UTC
yes it's a bug that it shows files multiple times if the directory are
present multiple times.
Comment 4 Luis Villa 2002-03-26 18:06:46 UTC
Would be really nice to have this one fixed. Very borderline high,
though, IMHO.
Comment 5 Mikael Hallendal 2002-04-11 09:37:57 UTC
I agree that it's slow, I think it's the rendering that is slow but
I'm going to try to look into this during the weekend and hopefully
have a fix for it before next weeks release. (for the duplications of
manpages too).
Comment 6 Mikael Hallendal 2002-05-01 23:23:23 UTC
hmm .. forgot to add a note about this one, we tried to pinpoint what
is taking so long and it looks like it's inside gtkhtml2 but I can't
see why since it shouldn't take that long.
