This icon is really big

When you right click a file and open the "Open with" entry on the menu, some icons are too big.
I assume it's because no small icon is available for the program. So far I had this issue with Opera beta, GNOME Subtitles and the WPS suite.
Please, see the attached image for a screenshot of this happening.
Cheers, Ian.

Can the icon be resized before it is added to the context menu?

Wait... What?

How am I supposed to open a file using a different software than the default, then?

There is an option "Open with other application" that opens the application selection widget.

It appears to have been resolved in bug 741259 by forcing the icons to 16x16 in gtk+ version 3.15.4 (commit b44df22895c794733e15d19a977bc9c2d5a2bd78) and gtk+ version 3.14.8 (commit 9466e8926d54798722b780de16128ed2bbf1f2ed).
