Description Tanguy Ortolo 2014-08-14 15:10:13 UTC
LaTeXila currently uses libgee version 0.6 aka 1.0 (yeah, this is a crazy numbering, see <https://wiki.gnome.org/action/show/Projects/Libgee#Versions>), which is no longer maintained.

It would be necessary to switch to the newer 0.8 version.

FYI, this is an issue for the Debian project, where libgee 0.6 will no longer be maintained either. The corresponding bug report is <http://bugs.debian.org/753874>.

It's already done:
https://git.gnome.org/browse/latexila/commit/?id=1352ae085f8e77f8e1d1e0c98f2dd3af32fc0f50

https://git.gnome.org/browse/latexila/commit/?id=2e7ef2f357326508a618e9fda713f40db2c46415

It'll be available for LaTeXila 2.14, which will normally be released around GNOME 3.14 in September.

If needed, I can also backport the patch to the latexila-2-12 branch.

Excellent.

You can backport it if you want, and that would be helpful indeed, but unless it implies some knowledge of the code or some complication, I can do that myself. Besides, the next Debian release freeze should be *after* your release of LaTeXila 2.14, so I can as well wait for it.

Thank you, and feel free to close this bug report.

The patch doesn't touch the code, it is really simple. If possible I prefer to avoid backporting it because if a new 2.12.x version is released, packagers will need to update the dependency, and for a minor version it is generally not expected.
