Description Oren Held 2002-02-23 12:24:27 UTC
When right clicking A windowlist applet (say, when rightclicking one
window's name in the applet), there should be specific-to-this-applet
options. the thing is that when you click AFTER the windowlist applet (to
the direction of right..), on the PANEL and not on any applet, you still
get the specific-to-the-windowlist-applet-menu, instead of the panel menu
with all the 'add applet' options.

How to reproduce: create a new edge panel (didn't test it with others..),
add the windowlist applet in the middle of the panel. right click on the
left side of the panel: work well. now click on the right side of the
panel: you cannot get the panel's menu.

It is really annoying, that tasklist applet expands to the end of
panel. t should use just as much space, as is needed at the moment

Re-titling slightly with the better description from the other bug.
This is very borderline on being High.

Hrm. Could have sworn I'd tagged this earlier. And marking high
because of the number of dups.
Comment 7 Dave Bordoley [Not Reading Bug Mail] 2002-03-16 18:36:39 UTC
one possible solution to this could be to maintain the current
behavior but let the user choose to righ or left justify.
Comment 8 Dave Bordoley [Not Reading Bug Mail] 2002-03-17 02:23:28 UTC
After playing with this for a while in my latest ximian snapshot, i'm
starting to feel that this might not be a bug and is actually the
correct design.
Comment 9 Johan (not receiving bugmail) Dahlin 2002-03-17 02:25:25 UTC
Well perhaps, but as i mentioned in bug 74192, the context menu is
confusing

Comment 10 Mario Vukelic 2002-03-17 12:46:14 UTC
To make things more confusing, the subject really should read "Window
List applet takes up /nearly/ all panel space to the right of it":

At least in cvs head you do get the panel menu when you slam the mouse
all to the right of the lower panel and then rightclick. (I use a
panel setup more or less like default, so window list is on bottom
panel with no other stuff added to the right of it. The
right-click-to-panel-menu-area is not visually distinguishable but
it's there nevertheless

----------------------------------------------------
| workspace switcher| window list applet |
----------------------------------------------------
                                                   ^ rightclick here
Comment 11 Dave Bordoley [Not Reading Bug Mail] 2002-03-17 14:26:51 UTC
Heres and idea, maybe we can add an option to the right click menu,
"set applet width" that pops up and visible box around the applet
which the user can stretch to the desired width.
Comment 12 Ross Burton 2002-03-24 12:07:50 UTC
This is rather annoying for me as I use a pixmap background so I can
fake a transparent panel (actually it fades in).

I like the set width idea...
Comment 13 Dave Bordoley [Not Reading Bug Mail] 2002-04-07 23:01:55 UTC
Well ideally the window list applet would inherit the panels
background and your pixmap problem would be solved, regardless of
this bug.
