Description Dave Bordoley [Not Reading Bug Mail] 2002-02-20 22:37:23 UTC
The nautilus "view as hardware" is inconsistent with the rest of the
control center and should be replaced with a capplet. What I have in mind
is something similar to the Red Hat hardware viewer included in Red Hat 7.2.
Comment 1 Christian Fredrik Kalager Schaller 2002-02-21 23:19:13 UTC
Disagree. Capplets are made to control something, this is just a view.
That is should show more info that I agree, but even currently it does
give some baseline information.

You make a good point, maybe the control center is a bad place for
this. Perhaps we should add a hardware capplet in the start-here: menu.

or alternatively, we could use an icon/list view for the hardware: url
and have individual capplets for Disk Drives, Media devices, system
devices etc. I actually think this is actually a much better idea.

I have no problem with leaving the hardware view in for the time
being, but we should rip it out eventually and replace it with
something more useful.

Moving to "future".

Since it looks like i'm going to lose this decision, I'll just mark
this as wontfix, even though i still think in theory i'm right.
