GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 716145
synchronize GPS device data with photo timestamps
Last modified: 2020-12-20 12:02:21 UTC
---- Reported by adam@yorba.org 2010-05-25 11:26:00 -0700 ---- Original Redmine bug id: 1969 Original URL: http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/1969 Searchable id: yorba-bug-1969 Original author: Adam Dingle Original description: Not all cameras have GPSes. It would be nice if Shotwell could generate geolocation tags for pictures by synchronizing data loaded from a GPS device with timestamps found in photo files. ---- Additional Comments From shotwell-maint@gnome.bugs 2012-07-15 10:15:00 -0700 ---- ### History #### #1 Updated by Adam Dingle over 2 years ago Note this application which does this today: http://freefoote.dview.net/linux_gpscorr.html #### #2 Updated by Aaron W over 1 year ago I use Gpicsync: https://code.google.com/p/gpicsync/ which isn't perfect at all, but does the job and has a nice feature of putting the placename in the tag, as well as the GPS co-ordinates. It would be great if Shotwell could store the GPS traces in the background (particularly the start and end date of the trace) and offer to match it up to any photos that are imported that fall between those times. I would like to see this feature, even if the more complex map views etc don't come until later. --- Bug imported by chaz@yorba.org 2013-11-25 21:44 UTC --- This bug was previously known as _bug_ 1969 at http://redmine.yorba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1969 Unknown Component Using default product and component set in Parameters Unknown version " in product shotwell.
