---- Reported by adam@yorba.org 2010-05-25 11:26:00 -0700 ----

Original Redmine bug id: 1969
Original URL: http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/1969
Searchable id: yorba-bug-1969
Original author: Adam Dingle
Original description:

Not all cameras have GPSes. It would be nice if Shotwell could generate
geolocation tags for pictures by synchronizing data loaded from a GPS device
with timestamps found in photo files.

I use Gpicsync:

https://code.google.com/p/gpicsync/

which isn't perfect at all, but does the job and has a nice feature of putting
the placename in the tag, as well as the GPS co-ordinates.

It would be great if Shotwell could store the GPS traces in the background
(particularly the start and end date of the trace) and offer to match it up to
any photos that are imported that fall between those times. I would like to
see this feature, even if the more complex map views etc don't come until
later.
