GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 705647
New System Status design lost the ability to suspend
Last modified: 2013-08-26 17:38:37 UTC
With GNOME Shell 3.9.5, with the new System Status design - https://wiki.gnome.org/GnomeShell/Design/Guidelines/SystemStatus/ - I can't explicitly suspend my desktop any more. Just not possible, so far as I can see. There's no 'Power off' entry to turn into Suspend when you hold Alt. I've tried holding Alt and clicking the Power icon, doesn't work. I really need to be able to do this.
The "New power off dialog:" design shows a Suspend button, but the power off dialog in 3.9.5 does not have it. It only has Cancel, Restart and Power Off.
Yes, the patches for that are pending, and I'll try to land them today. In the mean time, close your lid? Press the power button on your chasis?
"close your lid?" Desktops noticeably short of 'em. "Press the power button on your chasis?" huh, somehow I entirely forgot about that. I'll see if it works...
"systemctl suspend"

Not yet; I got stuck dealing with gnome-session fallout where it won't let me log out more than once, along with design review.
