Description todd kulesza 2002-02-04 21:34:40 UTC
i've found that if gconfd-1 is running, gconf-2 applications won't function
properly because they can't start up gconfd-2. however, if i use the
commandline gconftool-2 to install a schema file, all gconf-2 and gconf-1
applications will work correctly.

gconf2 is supposed to work with gconfd-1. there may be issues with the
ORBit1/2 interoperability or something, but it worked at one point.

I had the same problem when I first installed some of the g2 stuff,
actually... naut bailed badly. Didn't need to do any schema magic to
get it working, though, and I've had no problems since then. Still
having issues, todd?

gconfd-1 has some bugs that break gnome 2 apps.
This is a problem. But otherwise it should work...
and gconf latest versions will always start gconfd-2 if the two gconf
installs are in the same prefix.
