Description Balló György 2012-12-28 05:51:43 UTC
Description:
When the gdm-fallback session used, and the user types a wrong password, it isn't possible to log in with the correct password after that for any users. GDM shows that the user logged in, but the user session doesn't start in fact. It doesn't happen with the gdm-shell session.

Distribution:
Arch Linux

Package versions:
systemd 196
pam 1.1.6
gdm 3.6.2

Steps to reproduce:
1. Start GDM with the gdm-fallback session.
3. Try to login with a wrong password. It causes that the authentication failed.
4. Try to login with the correct password. Now GDM shows that you logged in, but nothing happens, the user session doesn't start.

I can reproduce this problem on Fedora 18 also.
Comment 2 Christian Müller 2013-03-17 10:40:17 UTC
I can also reproduce this problem on a new installation of Arch Linux with package versions:
systemd 198
pam 1.1.6
gdm 3.6.2

Hi,

I guess this bug could be closed as gdm-simple-greeter is gone?
Comment 6 Ray Strode [halfline] 2013-11-21 14:57:01 UTC
yea, thanks.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug.
However, you are using a version that is too old and not supported anymore. GNOME developers are no longer working on that version, so unfortunately there will not be any bug fixes for the version that you use.

By upgrading to a newer version of GNOME you could receive bug fixes and new functionality. You may need to upgrade your Linux distribution to obtain a newer version of GNOME.
Please feel free to reopen this bug if the problem still occurs with a newer version of GNOME.
