Current uses ~/.easytag for cache files. It would be nice to use the location defined in the XDG Base Directory specification. https://live.gnome.org/GnomeGoals/XDGConfigFolders

Fixed in master with commit 856b4553904c59e564d5795903095098fad643db. I also implemented migration of old user configuration data with commit 84193c78c761a442badd80e3f0067bc90bac1073.
