Description Cosimo Cecchi 2012-10-25 20:55:59 UTC
When we're previewing an online document from our local cache, and we can't verify that the cache is up-to-date (for instance because we're not connected to the network), we should indicate this with an in-app notification.
Comment 1 Debarshi Ray 2014-03-28 13:42:50 UTC
We might have to teach the application to behave according to the network connectivity. I was trying to access some remote content at a conference with an authenticated gateway, and the application failed to understand that the remote storage is not accessible.
Comment 2 Debarshi Ray 2018-02-01 13:02:51 UTC
We have gotten a bit better at this. At least we no longer hit the network merely to check if something is already present in the cache.

However, the original question remains.
Comment 3 Allan Day 2018-02-01 14:41:41 UTC
This still seems like a good thing to have, although I probably wouldn't use an in-app notification for it - it would probably get in the way.

One option might be to show the last sync date and time as a sub-heading, below the document title.
Comment 4 GNOME Infrastructure Team 2021-07-05 11:30:50 UTC
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-documents/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
