Description Paul Menzel 2012-02-09 22:54:48 UTC
Logging into GNOME Classic after an upgrade of python-wnck I got the error message mentioned in the subject.

Das Panel ist beim Laden von »WnckletFactory::WindowListApplet« auf ein Porblem gestoßen.

Wollen Sie das Applet aus Ihrer Konfiguration löschen?

This translates to the following.

The Panel encountered a problem loading »WnckletFactory::WindowListApplet«.

Do you want to remove it from your configuration?

I chose to remove that applet and now I cannot add it back to make further tests. Right clicking on the bottom panel does not give me any menu with options.

I also submitted a report to the Debian BTS [1] and they told me that has nothing to do with the `python-wnck` upgrade.

On IRC I was told to hold the ALT key. I will try that later.

This generally means a crash. Do you still have the ~/.xsession-errors from this session? Without it, there's not much we can do, really.

(And yes, you can press alt to add the applet back).

Unfortunately I did not save it and the system has already been restarted. Also I could not find any other information about the crash in other log files.

I guess some GTK(?) library was updated and there was some conflict which the restart solved.

Thanks. I could add the applet back to the panel.

Sorry, I missed your comment. So without more info from ~/.xsession-errors, it's unlikely we can do anything for this bug :/
Comment 5 Paul Menzel 2012-05-17 10:07:24 UTC
Alright, I was able to look at `~/.xsession-errors` when the crash happened.
