GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 66510
headers not shown for new newsgroups with selected articles
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Subscribe to a new newsgroup Select the new group with the middle mouse button (not load) Bring up the context menu and choose "download articles" Select the option for "150 recent" Pan will download them, but not show them in the headers pane If one clicks on the group (or was it double click?) then the pane is refreshed, and headers are shown.
I think I'm misunderstanding this report -- please try me again. The header pane stayed empty until you loaded the group. That sounds like the correct behavior to me...?
You're correct, this the behavior of other options in the "Download articles..." dialog. What I was expecting though, as a user, is that here's a new group that I want to read, but I don't want to see all the thousands of old messages, just let me start by reading the last x messages. Seems like a reasonable task, that I thought I could be accomplished by this dialog option in pan. When I didn't see the headers, I tried repeated to do the same thing, still not seeing the articles. I'm sure documentation would solve the problem, but, the "use case" is not addressed, IMHO.
I agree. We're frozen to try & get 0.11.2 out for Mandrake 8.2 and Fifth Toe 1.4.1 right now, but I'll pencil this in for whatever version comes after that.
Implemented in CVS.
