Description jlquinn 2011-06-26 18:49:56 UTC
gnome-control-center 3.0.1.1-1 on Debian testing x86_64.

When I bring up the control center and go to the printers display, I have 2 printers: an HP deskjet and a Dell MFP1815 laser.

The laser shows a Toner Level bar, but it is grayed out.
The deskjet shows a Supply Level bar, but it is grayed out.

Hi,

the problem here is that g-c-c doesn't get required information. The supply level is not reported by all printers but by quite new ones only. You can check this also in system-config-printer, which shows it in "Properties" -> "Ink/Toner Levels".

Regards

Marek

The printer in question is a Dell MFP 1810 laser. I know that Dell's software could read toner levels, but don't know how hard it is to access it.

GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new bug report at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
