GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 646562
file-roller can't open rar files with password protected file data and headers
Last modified: 2011-04-26 14:34:48 UTC
Created attachment 184971 [details] RAR file with encrypted file data and header This has been originally reported by Thorsten Reinbold in the Ubuntu bug tracker: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/file-roller/+bug/732600 When trying to open an RAR archive with file-roller that has "protected file data and headers" (option -hp in the rar command line utility), you only get the "CRC failed in the encrypted file ....rar. Corrupt file or wrong password." message without any prompt for a password. Opening files with only password protected files (option -p in rar) correctly asks for the password. The attached file test_hp.rar shows this problem (password is "pass"), test_p.rar (same password) works fine. Version: 2.32.1-0ubuntu4 (Ubuntu Natty)
+1, I am facing similar problem with file-roller 2.32.1. I am able to extract same file with file-roller 2.28.2
I cannot reproduce this bug with file-roller 2.32.1 and unrar 3.90. What version of rar or unrar are you using ?
I have unrar-4.0.4-3.1.i586 and file-roller-2.32.1-100.3.i586 installed on my desktop.
This is now fixed in the current development version, the fix will be available in version 2.32.2 and 3.0.2. Thanks for the bug report.
