GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 638868
Archive manager won't accept files with the special character % in the name; won't say that it didn't include them
Last modified: 2011-03-01 18:48:57 UTC
Reported at: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/file-roller/+bug/694067 From the bug: "If a file or a folder has a % [percent character] in its name, the "File Roller" archive manager [...] will not add it to an archive. Moreover, it will not give any feedback that the file has not been added." I am not the intial reporter, but the bug report matches my experience with Ubuntu 10.10. The fact that is does not give any warning message makes this a major error as it could potential cause loss of data if the user deletes the orginal file.
