GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 635209
Need to press Page Up up to 10 times to move the cursor to line 1
Last modified: 2015-02-07 15:27:56 UTC
I'm using gedit-2.30.4-1 that comes with Fedora 14 i386 and all updates until now are applied. Depending of the vertical size of gedit window, when the first line is visible and the cursor is at the last visible line of the first page, I need to press Page Up up to 10 times to move the cursor to line 1. Steps to demonstrate the problem: - open gedit aplication with an unsaved document; - go to Edit->Preferences dialog and turn on line numbers, if they are not already activated; - on keyboard, press the Enter key 10 times, then press the Page Up key to return the cursor to line 1; - reduce the vertical size of gedit window in a way to hide the botton circle of number 8 (hide it in the middle) and the line numbers below it; - move the cursor to line 8; - press again the Page Up key to return the cursor to line 1; - the user will have to press Page Up for 3 times, instead 1 or 2, to move the cursor to line 1. If the user change the vertical size of the window in a way that, when the cursor moves to last visible line, the first line moves aprox. 1 pixel above, Page Up will need to be pressed 10 times to move the cursor back to the first line. This is annoying because is the way gedit window becomes when I maximize it in my desktop.

I cannot reproduce the bug with gedit 3.15, with one PageUp I go to the first line. Feel free to reopen the bug if you can still reproduce the problem with a more recent version of gedit (with the last stable version, currently 3.14).
