subject did not say it all, I don't know what I meant here. ;-) 
It does seem to work now, except that I'm not sure what "work"
implies; current behavior is that negative indentation pushes in all
lines of a paragraph other than the first, instead of pushing the
first out into the left margin. Need opinions on whether this is right
- look at testtext to see how it works.

Owen thought it was fine, I have no idea, so it works as-is. 
If it's wrong oh well...
