Using Gnumeric 1.10.8 on WindowsXP, SP3 the following bug is reproducible: 
When trying to paste some text for the label of the axis of a chart Gnumeric is crashing. 

To reproduce: 
- Create a Chart (e.g. PlotXY)
- Copy some text (e.g. "testlabel")
- Properties/Add label to X-axis  (or Y-axis)
- Set Cursor to the text-field + Press Ctrl+V to paste the text
- Gnumeric crashes
