Description Yves-Alexis Perez 2010-08-10 08:14:01 UTC
Hey,

a Debian user reported (and I can confirm) that it wasn't possible to add/remove categories in 2.30 Evolution.

Original report is at http://bugs.debian.org/591950 but basically, when in the contact card, try to edit the categories by adding custom one or removing provided ones. One can't even click “OK” if no category is selected (but that's related to bug #332497 I guess), but more important, when categories are reopened later, all modifications are gone.

If you need more info, please ask.

Cheers,

Possibly related bugs:

--> Suggests that categories in contacts have been disabled intentionally

I can edit / add / remove categories from contact in evolution master 2.31.6.
But i don't see newly added categories in contact editor -> category list, though i see them any category drop down list in contact view.

I gather then, from Akhil's comments and the change in bug title, that in 2.31.6 you can remove categories in contact editor, like VIP, for example, and they are not automatically recreated the next time you open the editor?

Currently, in 2.30 you can neither add nor remove, and I'm just wondering if the remove part is fixed in 2.31.6

Greetings,

Is it possible to re-open this bug? The behaviour described above persists in 2.6.32 on Fedora 14. It is not exactly the same. I can now create new categories and they persist, however I can't delete any categories, either the default ones supplied or newly created ones by me.

For example, delete the VIP category and create a new one called VVIP (very, very important problem). Save the contact changes, close down category editor. Re-open and see that both VVIP and VIP are there. Try deleting VVIP, save, close, open again and see that it is still there.

You have reported bug 634113 already so there is no need to reopen this bug.
