GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 62431
The backup conduit mangles important data base info.
Last modified: 2009-08-15 18:40:50 UTC
The backup conduit mangles some data base information during backup, making it pointless, or even impossible in some cases, to restore the data base to the pilot. In the data bases of the "standard" applications, the information lost is the categories information. In particular, this makes the pilot crash if I try to restore the LaucherDB data base. I have made the same backup using pilot link directly and the information was intact. I have noticed the error since gnome pilot version 0.1.61. I'm using the ximian packages in a RedHat 6.2 system, with the old control-panel, since my conduits ware configured and working. I'm attaching two versions of the LaucherDB, backed up by pilot-link and gnome-pilot. Relevant versions: gnome-pilot-0.1.61-ximian.3 pilot-link-0.9.5-ximian.1 control-center-1.4.0.1-ximian.5
Created attachment 5834 [details] The pilot-link backed up LaucherDB data base.
Created attachment 5835 [details] The gnome-pilot backed up LaucherDB data base.
gnome-pilot 0.1.54 (Debian Woody) messes up the categories too...
I'm pretty sure this was fixed, but I don't remember when. Are you still seeing this problem?
I have in the past used a version of Gnome Pilot with this bug fixed. However, I'm not using it now, so I can't assert conclusively :) this bug is no more. It is very easy to test, back with gnome pilot, back with pilot-link, diff, if not the same (binary) the bug is back.
Well, if this "bug is no more" as Gustavo says, then I'm going to close it. Gustavo: Thanks for following up.
