It might be nice to have a super-simple wrapper around GtkTreeView that
hides all the auxiliary objects and so on, but isn't very flexible at all.

gtkmm has achieved this, so it would be worth looking at the gtkmm TreeView API
for inspiration:

Nobody has worked on this in 14 years. Time to retire this request.
