Description Braden 2001-10-11 02:10:58 UTC
When using the user's home directory for the desktop, it doesn't make sense
to include the "Home" icon as well.
Comment 1 John Fleck 2001-10-19 13:39:42 UTC
Seems like a reasonable suggestion to me.
Comment 2 Chris Heywood 2001-11-15 01:12:21 UTC
Associated with this, the home directory link is created every time at
the moment if there isn't a link called "username's home". Would it
be possible to change this so the link is only created if there are no
links to ~ on the desktop (or something similar?).

This would allow the home link to have other names.
Comment 3 John Fleck 2002-01-26 04:16:04 UTC
Adding GNOME2 keyword.
Comment 4 Luis Villa 2002-02-25 18:37:31 UTC
This is incredibly irritating; I'm surprised it hasn't been reported more.
Comment 5 Håvard Wigtil 2002-03-17 19:43:43 UTC
I'm looking at this now. But is the GNOME2 keyword really apropriate here?
Comment 6 Luis Villa 2002-03-18 17:06:39 UTC
Borderline. Definitely not a GNOME2 blocker bug, really, but
definitely a GNOME2 issue (which was the original criteria, two or
three iterations ago.) Up to you, havardw, if you want to leave it or not.

I have commited a patch to a) stop creating the home directory link
when desktop=home and b) allow the user to delete any existing home
directory link when desktop=home. This bug should be closed (unless
we are maintaining the 1.0.x branch?).
