GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 62116
Remove "Home" icon when desktop is $HOME
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
When using the user's home directory for the desktop, it doesn't make sense to include the "Home" icon as well.
Seems like a reasonable suggestion to me.
Associated with this, the home directory link is created every time at the moment if there isn't a link called "username's home". Would it be possible to change this so the link is only created if there are no links to ~ on the desktop (or something similar?). This would allow the home link to have other names.
Adding GNOME2 keyword.
This is incredibly irritating; I'm surprised it hasn't been reported more.
I'm looking at this now. But is the GNOME2 keyword really apropriate here?
Borderline. Definitely not a GNOME2 blocker bug, really, but definitely a GNOME2 issue (which was the original criteria, two or three iterations ago.) Up to you, havardw, if you want to leave it or not.
I have commited a patch to a) stop creating the home directory link when desktop=home and b) allow the user to delete any existing home directory link when desktop=home. This bug should be closed (unless we are maintaining the 1.0.x branch?).
