The libpanel-applet port to DBus has been merged into git master. The API is mostly the same, but there are few changes. Python bindings need to be updated to the new API and remove the bonobo dependency so that python applets can be ported.

introspection support added to gnome-panel, see bug#622341.

I think we can close this as OBSOLETE, feel free to open again if this is not correct.
