GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 618687
Cannot duplicate a regular sequence of numbers.
Last modified: 2010-05-17 09:54:29 UTC
On the 1.10.3 version, if I put a '1' in a cell and in the cell below put a '2', then highlight both cells and attempt to drag down an increasing regular sequence of numbers, it doesn't work. The 1.10.1 I had before did. The 1.10.3 simply wants to move the two numbers and drop wherever I release the mouse button.
This all depends how you drag: If the pointer is in the small (tiny) bottom right box of the selection frame the cursor should change into crosshairs. If you drag now, you should get 1,2,3,4... If the pointer is anywhere else in the selection frame the cursor should be an arrow. If you drag now, you are moving the selection. I would guess that you didn't realize that difference. Please reopen this bug if the former indeed does not work for you.
Thank you Andreas. I have gone back and tried but I can get the crosshair, but it drags down the letters but moves them, it doesn't cause a number sequence. As I said, the previous 1.10.1 did, my OpenOffice.orgCalc does and my Excel also. Either there is a unique problem with my download or the new 1.10.3 has abug.

RayCee, are you using the RTL mode? Looks likt there is a bug, the crosshair appears at bottom left in that case, which should not happen.
Thanks Jean for your reply. The crosshair is in the bottom right of the cell. It just drags the data down until I release the mouse button and leaves it there. It doesn't do a sequence of numbers, a feature I often use. I've never had a problem with RTL mode with a spreadsheet before.
I have noticed that when I opened a new spreadsheet, it's fine. It appears to be two spreadsheets I already had created before I updated to 1.10.3. What I've done is create new files and copied over the data and the sequence draging now works. A bit of a pain as I have a lot of files to rejig the columns for but it will sort it. I don't know what I did wrong. I must say I'm impressed with the speed and helpfulness of those who tried to assist me. Thank you very much.
It would be nice if we could get a sample showing the issue so that we can analyze what happens and fix the issue.
Tell me where to send a Gnumeric SS and I will gladly Jean.

Looks like this occurs when the zoom level is 98% or less.
This problem has been fixed in our software repository. The fix will go into the next software release. Thank you for your bug report.
