I received an offline request that we implement something to pick names
during formula entry.  Excel has this bound to F3 and brings up a list of
names to choose from.

There is already some partial dialog for that in git.

The new define-names dialog is intended to be useful for that (with the editing portion appropriately hidden).

Okay, we now have an insert->names->paste menu item that opens a dialog that may(?) do all the right things. Unfortunately the menu item is inactive while editing a cell. And I have no idea how to change that.

This problem has been fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. Thank you for your bug report.
