GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 612324
Renaming bookmarks in the sidebar fails
Last modified: 2010-07-20 00:24:42 UTC
Original report: http://bugs.debian.org/573185 by Denis Laxalde Try to rename a bookmark from the side panel of nautilus: 1. the name is not updated immediately in the side panel (it is in nautilus' Bookmarks menu). Nautilus has to be closed and reopened for the change to appear. 2. the name is not update in the Places/Bookmarks menu (of Gnome panel) 3. quitting (with --quit) and restarting nautilus, the old name is back However, bookmarks rename works fine from the Eookmarks/Edit bookmarks menu of nautilus.
A commenter on Launchpad -- <https://launchpad.net/bugs/549707> -- says that the name actually is changed, but that the sidebar is not updated accordingly.
I confirm this in nautilus 2.30 (1:2.30.0-0ubuntu4). The original bug description is accurate.

I have a clean fix for this in a branch that refactors a bit the code handling bookmarks, which will be merged after we branch gnome-2-30.
This problem has been fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. Thank you for your bug report.
