GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 611890
Brightness Applet is not usable via Mouse
Last modified: 2012-03-23 16:07:38 UTC
In Ubuntu Lucid Thorsten Reinbold reported: When trying to use the slider of the brightness-Applet via Mouse, the slider closes directly. The only way to change the value is per mousewheel. ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 Date: Fri Mar 5 10:48:33 2010 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04 "Lucid Lynx" - Alpha i386 (20100228) Package: gnome-power-manager 2.29.91-0ubuntu4 ProcEnviron: LANG=de_DE.utf8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-15.22-generic SourcePackage: gnome-power-manager Uname: Linux 2.6.32-15-generic i686 Asus V6V Notebook with Pentium M, i915 Chipset, 2GB DDR2-Ram and Mobility Radeon X600 with 64MB. - http://launchpadlibrarian.net/40235432/DevkitPower.txt - http://launchpadlibrarian.net/40235433/GConfNonDefault.txt - http://launchpadlibrarian.net/40235434/gnome-power-bugreport.txt Launchpad ref: https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-power-manager/+bug/532518 Thanks!
This is also an issue for me. (Toshiba Portege M200, Ubuntu 10.04, Lucid Lynx) If you click on the icon and then click on the slider it disappears. Interestingly if you click on the icon and then right-click anywhere on it before left clicking then you can control it with our mouse as expected.
So this is what happens for me in Ubuntu 10.10 When I click the icon on my panel the slider appears as expected, directly below. As soon as I click the slider it disappears. When I click the panel icon again it re-appears in the top left of the screen and fails to respond to any mouse input whatsoever (clicks or scroll wheel). It does however respond to key presses.
I'd like to confirm this bug on my HP2710p laptop/tablet computer. - Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit - gnome 2.32.0 - processor: Intel Core 2 Duo ULV Processor U7600 - chipset: Mobile Intel GM965
I have the same problem. It disappears when the slider is clicked, and right-clicking then clicking off of the menu (just on the desktop somewhere) then left clicking and dragging the slider works fine. Dell Inspiron 1750 Ubuntu 10.10 kernel 2.6.35-25-generic x86_64 GNU/Linux Pentium dual core T4400, Mem 4gig, all system updates applied currently,
Oh I forgot, I'm using applet version 2.32.0
Would someone please change it to confirmed ? FWIW, some Debian report : http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=606650
No applet anymore...
