This is also an issue for me. (Toshiba Portege M200, Ubuntu 10.04, Lucid Lynx)

If you click on the icon and then click on the slider it disappears.

Interestingly if you click on the icon and then right-click anywhere on it before left clicking then you can control it with our mouse as expected.

So this is what happens for me in Ubuntu 10.10 When I click the icon on my panel the slider appears as expected, directly below. As soon as I click the slider it disappears. When I click the panel icon again it re-appears in the top left of the screen and fails to respond to any mouse input whatsoever (clicks or scroll wheel). It does however respond to key presses.

I'd like to confirm this bug on my HP2710p laptop/tablet computer.
- Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit

- chipset: Mobile Intel GM965

I have the same problem. It disappears when the slider is clicked, and right-clicking then clicking off of the menu (just on the desktop somewhere) then left clicking and dragging the slider works fine.
