Description Aaron Brick 2001-09-25 02:09:00 UTC
frequently, i encounter a situation where ctrl-w fails to close a tab. i
reach this state by reading a news site with many links. i open half a
dozen or more in the background, and having reached the end of the page of
links, attempt to close that page; i end up having to reach for the mouse
to do it.

per yaneti's request, the page on which this happens for me is now above.

This is the worst of galeon focus bugs. We cant really do anything
about it, I think it should be fixed in mozilla/mozilla embedding. (or
gnome-libs)
The problem is that when you open gtk context menus the window lose
the focus. On gtk/gnome applications when you close the menu the focus
go back to the gtk widget. This doesnt happen with mozilla widget. The
focus appear to be on the link, but keys events arent working. I
really have no clue on what could be wrong here. It definately looks
like a mozilla focus issue to me.
Fixing context menus in gtk/gnome-libs to not lose window focus would
also probably fix the problem.
Comment 3 Aaron Brick 2001-09-26 01:11:17 UTC
i am happy to file a bug against mozilla if you can specify exactly
what is wrong (i'm not familiar with the details of events handling).
Comment 4 Aaron Brick 2001-09-26 06:41:25 UTC
the most interesting part of this bug for me is that when i start on
tab 1 and alt-2 to the second tab, i can ctrl-w it no problem. if i
alt-2 and then alt-1 the close still fails.
Comment 5 Aaron Brick 2001-09-26 16:10:08 UTC
btw, the problematic tab does not have to be the first one. if i have
another page open and perform the above steps, the same behavior is
exhibited.
Comment 6 Marco Pesenti Gritti 2001-10-06 12:50:16 UTC
I submitted the bug to mozilla
Comment 7 Aaron Brick 2001-11-13 22:27:19 UTC

Mass close of gnome 1.[0-2] bugs (search for "galeon 1.x bug closeathon")

It has been decided that there will be no future bug fixes for versions prior to
the current 1.3. Although I have tried not to close still relevant bugs, if you
can reproduce this bug with the current galeon version (1.3.8 or later) and
mozilla 1.4 or later please do the following:

Search on bugzilla.gnome.org for galeon bugs, there may be another bug that is
still open.

Failing that please re-open this bug and add the steps to reproduce, and a small
testcase (along with the versions of galeon and mozilla you tested it with)
