Description Stephane Chauveau 2001-09-23 20:12:02 UTC
First, a question: Do you consider the web site (www.gimp.org)
as an important part of the GIMP project? If yes, it
should be added to the 'Component' list of bugzilla.

Anyway, www.gimp.org is the first place where a user
will look to report a bug and Bugzilla does not seem to
be explicitly mentionned there (except in a few old news).

The developper FAQ indicates that core functionality bugs
can be reported at the "Wilberworks bug list"
I believe that you mean "hardcode functionality" because
this URL is now a porn-site :-)
Comment 1 Daniel Egger 2001-09-23 22:05:53 UTC
Okay, here you are. www.gimp.org is now a component. :)
Unfortunately I've no access to the homepage but you're right there.
Sven, would you please have a look?
Comment 2 Raphaël Quinet 2001-09-24 08:53:58 UTC
A mailing list has been created to deal with the web site, because
many pages are outdated and contain broken links or even incorrect
information. The mailing list is: gimp-web@lists.xcf.berkeley.edu
and you can get the list archives from here:
 http://lists.xcf.berkeley.edu/lists/gimp-web/
By the way, one of the pages that is out of date on www.gimp.org is
the one that mentions the mailing lists (the list of lists is
incomplete, the addresses of the lists have changed and the archives
on lists.xcf.berkeley.edu are not mentioned).

It looks like most people on the list are in favor of a complete
re-design of the site instead of fixing the current pages. This
means that it will probably take a few months until anything
happens with the web site. Hopefully, the result will be worth the
wait.

Some time ago, I volunteered (together with Branko Collin, if I
remember correcly) to fix the most obvious problems in the current
pages while waiting for the new design, but I do not have access to
the server so I cannot do anything about it. Maybe it is better to
leave the site as it is for the moment so that people do not get
the false impression that it is being actively maintained? I don't
know...
Comment 3 Raphaël Quinet 2001-09-25 08:41:21 UTC
OK, forget the last paragraph of my previous comment. I now have
access to www.gimp.org and I will try to fix the most urgent
problems in the next few days. I will not really maintain the web
site, but I will at least try to:
- remove the incorrect information in some pages
- mention bugzilla for reporting bugs
- update the addresses of the mailing lists and list archives
The other major changes will have to wait until the new design is
ready.
Comment 4 Raphaël Quinet 2001-10-29 12:08:27 UTC
Fixed. I added a link to bugzilla on the gimp.org home page, in the
section titled "Bugs, bugs, bugs" that was there before but had been
removed some time ago.

There is still a problem with the mailing lists, but this is covered
by bug #55109.

Changing all www.gimp.org bugs from gimp product to the gimp-web product,
including old closed/fixed bugs, and reassigning.
