Description Andrew Ziem 2001-09-18 02:49:56 UTC
My Linux distribution boots to the console. gnome.org does not mention
how to change the setting to boot to GUI, nor does it mention that I
should simply type xdm to start the login.

Please include these in the gnome.org FAQ for users like me who run
distributions that boot in text console mode by default.

You do not say what your Linux distribution is. The correct way
to start GNOME or to switch to booting to X rather than console
will vary with distribution.

It is already covered in the FAQ, as best I can (bearing in mind
that I do not have every distribution available to test with).

xdm is not mentioned because the Gnome display manager is gdm :)

If you have specific suggestions on ways to improve this, I am all
ears.
