Description Jean-François Colson 2009-12-22 22:41:13 UTC
The character map is based on the Unicode Character Database 5.1. Therefore characters which have been introduced in version 5.2 are not supported. Is it possible to make an update for Ubuntu Karmic Koala?

Thanks for the report. Christian have already upgraded the HEAD:
http://git.gnome.org/browse/gucharmap/commit/?id=cb82a810590a6abdf05665039619e48e49083ce4

But if you really want UCD 5.2 in the 2.28 branch, I should say we have never backported UCD updates to branches.

You can upgrade the Unicode Character Database by running download-unicode-files.sh and gen-guch-unicode-tables.pl before building gucharmap.

This is not promised to work. This might cause build or even runtime problems, but hopefully it won't. You can follow the changes on HEAD to see if there's any code change needed for this.
