GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 605244
file-roller erroneously demands password after drag & drop
Last modified: 2020-11-11 19:11:30 UTC
this report has been filed here: https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/file-roller/+bug/494793 " 1 - Launch file-roller 2 - Click OPEN 3 - Select the attached archive. 4 - file-roller should display a list of files contained inside the archive. file1 is password protected. file2 is not password protected. 5 - attempt to drag/drop file2 to the Desktop. You will be prompted for a password which should not happen. 6 - click OK and the password prompt will not go away. Enter any random string into the dialog box and click OK will cause the file to be successfully decompressed. " file: http://launchpadlibrarian.net/36642629/archive.zip
I can confirm this in File Roller version 2.28.1
should be fixed now in current master branch.
bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all old bug reports and feature requests in GNOME Bugzilla which have not seen updates for a long time. If you still use file-roller and if you still see this bug / want this feature in a currently supported version of GNOME (currently that would be 3.38), then please feel free to report it at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/file-roller/-/issues/ Thank you for creating this report and we are sorry it could not be implemented (volunteer workforce and time is limited).
