John please have a look at the documentation, specifically gnumeric/doc/C/graphics-plots.xml. That should show you the xml format the documentation needs to be written in.

The gnumeric source contains a doc directory. Inside that you shoule be able to find  C/graphics-plots.xml. If you don't have the gnumeric source, you should be able to find it at http://git.gnome.org/cgit/gnumeric/tree/doc/C

This problem has been fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. Thank you for your bug report.
