GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 595822
Totem no longer plays rmvb
Last modified: 2009-09-25 20:43:46 UTC
In Ubuntu Karmic, since upgrade of totem and gstreamer a few days ago, totem can no longer play rmvb files. totem version: 2.27.92 There's no error or warning messages, even invoked with --debug option. It simply doesn't play. GST_DEBUG_NO_COLOR=1 GST_DEBUG=*:2 totem shows nothing interesting. I've gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad, gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly installed. I can play rmvb with gst-launch, but not with totem.
Try with GST_DEBUG=*:5 Can't do anything without debug.

Today I upgraded to totem 2.28.0, still has problem.

Would you be able to provide the file, or (for example) the first 10KiB of it, if that reproduces the problem (but is still also playable with gst-launch)? Thanks.
Created attachment 143662 [details] First 800KB of a RM file This is the first 800KB piece of a RM file. It can be played with gst-launch but not with totem. This bug is not subjected to some RM or RMVB files. In fact, all my RM and RMVB files cannot be played with totem since the upgrade.
This is actually a bug of libtotem-plparser. After applying this patch, everything's ok. http://git.gnome.org/cgit/totem-pl-parser/commit/?id=1c6dc284ba809ccd398c35bb20654da16ab39520 See also: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=595901 and
