Open the xls file of bug 593937.
Save it as a gnumeric file.
Open the file again. 

Problem: The chart appears to have lost its surface! I have marked it as a charting problem since the series still seem to be attached to the chart.

Was a style issue. These XL plots are just a nightmare, since all the sezries share the same style, which is something we do not really support. I just made a hack to avoid style edition, but this needs a better solution.
The gnumeric file is correct. You might keep it to test exports to ods because the original xls file will now load as a standard gnumeric surface.
