Partial screenshot of Gnome DO showing the bug

Occasionally, but often repeatably, text will display surrounded by black
boxes. This is most problematic when the text itself is black!

I'll attach a couple of screenshots, one from Gnome DO, the other from Gramps.
Both applications consistently show the bug, as does Notify OSD. Firefox will
sometimes block out text too, but mostly with non-black text.

Gramps is the only application I've found so far which will consistently block
out black text. It only does it on one of its screens (the pedigree screen) but
makes that bit of UI almost completely unusable.

Sounds like a X driver issue. Coming from launchpad, I assume proprietary drivers where used. Not pango's fault anyway.
Comment 4 andrew 2009-08-31 18:51:52 UTC
Okay. For the record, no proprietary drivers here :).
Comment 5 Baptiste Mille-Mathias 2009-08-31 18:55:24 UTC
yeah, ubuntu users can be also just be OSS users
Comment 6 Sebastien Bacher 2009-08-31 19:35:37 UTC
reopening, do you really need to do some ubuntu trolling on bugs there?
Comment 7 Behdad Esfahbod 2009-08-31 19:40:49 UTC
I'm not trolling anyone. This bug is NOT a pango bug. Most probably xorg or whoever else provides the driver. *May* be cairo or pixman, but chances are very slim. Again, NOT pango at all. Pango doesn't deal with pixels.

Closing again. Hope no one minds this time.
