GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 593352
empathy always display scroll bar in conversation window
Last modified: 2011-07-21 14:47:33 UTC
Created attachment 141908 [details] image from downstream bug Binary package hint: empathy When a new conversation is opened, I always have a vertical scrollbar (on the right) even if it is not needed. (see attachment) I am using Ubuntu Karmic with last updates and Empathy 2.27.5-0ubuntu1. This is not a very important bug but it is a little bit annoying. Thank you. Thanks for the report, Brian. The GNOME HIG suggests: "Only display scrollbars when they are required for sliding the view. If an object fits inside the viewer control, don't draw scrollbars." http://library.gnome.org/devel/hig-book/stable/controls-scrollbars.html.en
Hi, there is another problem with the scroll bar in Empathy. I've been asked to assist a user of empathy on an Ubuntu 9.10 system.. here is what I observe: The scroll bar will not always follow the conversation by staying at the bottom. If the user replies to messages, the scroll bar will move up a line and stay there. Which means replies from the contact will be hidden from view, until the user grabs the bar and slides it down, or hits the page down key. This is not the expected behaviour, I'd think.
You don't get a scrollbar anymore until it's needed. Closing this bug report.
