Description Cesare Tirabassi 2009-08-07 17:25:21 UTC
Please describe the problem:
The original bug report can be found here:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk+2.0/+bug/405340

conky is a system monitoring tool that displays info also on the root window (or, in the case of metacity, on the layer window which is used as the background).
As of libgtk+2.0 2.17, a strange behaviour is evident, in that the background of the conky window is not as it should, but reflects the set window's background.
This artifact is only present on the gnome desktop, and only with the new libgtk with client side code.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Install libgtk+2.0 2.17+
2. Install any conky version with x11 support
3. Run conky setting the root window for output (own_window=no)

Actual results:
conky's background becomes equal to the window background instead of the desktop one.

Expected results:

Does this happen every time?
Yes.

Can you try 2.17.7, i think that commit	fa214590662ae57ec0011e25ec0c6fafb65b165d could have fixed this.
Comment 2 Alexander Larsson 2009-08-13 15:04:33 UTC
Yes, works with that.
