Description marquinos 2009-07-24 10:32:34 UTC
Please describe the problem:
Hi!
I can't select Asturian language in gnome

I am not able to select Asturian language when login in gnome (when starting a session).
The Asturian language is just missing from the list of languages.

I have also installed English and Spanish languages which work fine. Somehow,
only Asturian gives me this problem.
If I uninstall Spanish language, only appear English in the Login Window.

Best regards.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Add asturian language in language support.
2. Close session.
3. I can't see the asturian language in GDM.

Actual results:
I can't choose the asturian language in Login Screen.

Expected results:
That I can choose the asturian language in Login Screen.

Does this happen every time?
No. If I choosed the asturian language as my language, it appears.
It isn't show when I have another language.

Hi! I use Ubuntu 9.10 alpha3 (You can see the same results in Ubuntu 9.04):

Steps to reproduce:

1. Add asturian language in language support, from other language (By example: English)...
a.- Go to menu: System / Alministration / Language Support.
b.- Click in "Install / Remove languages" Button.
    c.- Select "Asturian;Bable;Leonese;AsturLeonese".
d.- Click in "Apply Changes" Button.
e.- Continues with English language (in "For my menus and windows, use" and "For everyone at startup and login, use" dropbox.

2. Close session or reboot.

3. In Login Screen, I can't see the asturian language in the Languages List.

I can imagine that this is not a GDM bug but an Ubuntu bug.
Anyway, I'll let the developers decide...

Hi Marcos,

Would you mind filing this on launchpad? There are a few pieces that GDM needs for a language to get added to the language list (it's got to be utf-8, you have to have font converage installed and fontconfig support, it has to have some translations, it has to be in iso-codes, etc)

It's likely that your distribution is missing some of those pieces.

Thanks!

Hi!
You have got it here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm/+bug/314171
Maybe I can help you about the information.
Thanks!

Hi!
I think is here the bug, not in Ubuntu.

I installed Debian 5 Stable in english, I added the languages Asturian (UTF-8) and Spanish (UTF-8), with the dpkg-reconfigure locales.

I reboot.

In the GDM only appear English or Spanish, never Asturian.

Can you update the correct status for this bug (I changed it for you see it). Thanks.

Best regards.

Hi!
Can anybody help me?
It's an important bug, because if you change the language in login with the asturian installed and selected, you lost the Asturian language in future logins (I must do a dpkg-reconfigure).
Thanks!
