Description Marty Miller 2009-07-23 12:30:02 UTC
+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #589484 +++

Expected action:
Should be able to retrieve weather data from nearby data reporting locations.

What happened instead:
There is a very limited list of available weather reporting stations available in this application.

If you use the Weatherbug Firefox plugin in Linux, or install Weatherbug in Windows, there are many weather reporting stations available to retrieve data from. For example, in my home town of Long Beach, New York, there is a weather reporting station at Long Beach High School that Weatherbug gets data from. This is true for most schools in all the towns surrounding me as well.

This would give me a weather report from a station a few hundred yards from my house instead of many miles away. Where I live, a difference of 15 miles makes a huge difference in what is happening outside.

Since these weather reporting stations are live and very numerous and give detailed data, is there any way to get the gnome weather applet to connect to these additional data sources?

This was started as part of a bug report with launchpad for Ubuntu, for more detail see:

bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all
old feature requests in Bugzilla which have not seen updates for many years.

If you still use gnome-applets and if you are still requesting this feature in a currently supported version of GNOME (currently that would be 3.38), then please feel free to report it at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-applets/-/issues/

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry it could not be implemented.
