GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 588706
Should register menu item in Preferences
Last modified: 2010-01-07 10:49:48 UTC
Much like gsynaptics and other mouse preferences, this program should register itself into the preferences menu with a launcher. GSynaptics, I think, uses the generic touchpad pixmap in the user's theme, and this seems to look great (on my system); I think we should do the same. The application, when running, should use this icon as well. Other information:
Created attachment 138474 [details] gsynaptics desktop launch file This is the desktop launch file from gsynaptics, which is mostly identical to that wich GPointingDeviceSettings needs. Note the "Touchpad" icon near the bottom, which I think we should use.
GPDS actually is not only for touchpad, it supports already TrackPoint properties. So we can not use GSynaptics desktop file here. Anyway I agree that we should install a desktop file.
I recognize that, but the icon's intent is pretty similar, and may do sufficiently until a more appropriate icon can be designed (which fits into the style guidelines).
This bug is fixed in Debian: http://packages.qa.debian.org/g/gpointing-device-settings/news/20091006T114711Z.html

I found more suitable icon in gnome-icon-theme and decided to use it. http://git.gnome.org/browse/gpointing-device-settings/commit/?id=d6e492a596da269ac9e64e6b0b03b01e4e7dc90e
