Please describe the problem:
Look at my desktop and you see that gimp makes it right,
but preview and firefox handle it wrong.

Steps to reproduce:
get the pasted picture.

The difference here is that gimp applies icc profiles.

If you run jpegicc over your jpeg, it dispays correctly in eog

On Windows it works in the explorer & iexplorer, so how could something like that fit in an gome desktop?

Colour correction is now applied across GNOME when colord is available.
