Description Marco Pallotta 2009-06-08 20:26:09 UTC
Please describe the problem:
This bug was reported in launchpad
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/f-spot/+bug/326809

At startup f-spot shows my photos (and that's ok) but not always the same (or, for example, it doesn't place itself to the last photos or to the first). For example, at times, it shows at startup my photos of year 2003 while other times it shows my photos of year 2008. It's not related to the last photo I have selected before having closed f-spot last time.

Steps to reproduce:
1. open f-spot (obviously I suppose that you have many photos so f-spot cannot show them all in one page)
2. select a photo (it's better that you select a photo that is not in the first f-spot "page")
3. close f-spot
4. re-open f-spot
5. if you are "lucky" you will see that f-spot doesn't open the first photo page or the last photo page in which there was the photo you previously selected, but it places itself in one of the next photo pages
6. if you aren't lucky re-try always selecting a different photo

Often it's not necessary to select any photos: if you open f-spot, don't select anything, close it and re-open the app you will see the issue.

Actual results:

Expected results:
f-spot should always start browsing the last photos viewed or, at least, this behaviour should be customized

Does this happen every time?
yes

f-spot will reopen displaying the first picture of the month you were last browsing.

indeed, it's not a very clear behaviour
Comment 2 André Klapper 2018-07-01 08:49:27 UTC
f-spot is not under active development anymore, has not seen code changes for five years, and saw its last tarball release in the year 2010.
Its codebase has been archived: https://gitlab.gnome.org/Archive/f-spot/commits/master

Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping to reflect reality. Please feel free to reopen this ticket (or rather transfer the project to GNOME Gitlab, as GNOME Bugzilla is deprecated) if anyone takes the responsibility for active development again.
