GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 584723
useless sm dialog
Last modified: 2020-11-06 20:06:26 UTC
I recently switched to F12 development; and thus to metacity 2.27. Now, every time I log in, I get a zenity dialog that tells me that gdm-simple-greeter doesn't support 'save current setup' and must be manually restarted. That is wrong on many levels: - The login session should not have any business saving state - The dialog text is just wrong, even if you can't save window geometry, I don't have to manually restart the greeter... - I never ever want to see this dialog in any case, even in a regular session. If you can't save some window geometries, tough luck. Deal with it, but don't show me a dialog that doesn't help at all.
Created attachment 136115 [details] [review] don't show a lame dialog
Looks good to me. Do you want to commit it or shall I?
I've committed it. -> FIXED
trying that again. -> FIXED
I don't actually see this patch in the master branch on git.gnome.org. The appearance of the lame dialog was a consequence of the commit discussed in bug 588119 - it was probably fine how it was working before (as old-style session saving is ever fine) but started getting called at the wrong time.
