GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 584580
Cursor becomes 'busy' in Nautilus when changing to parent directory while renaming a file
Last modified: 2012-09-29 00:06:51 UTC
Please describe the problem: Right-clicking a file in Nautilus, selecting "Rename...", and then immediately clicking the "Up" arrow to navigate to the parent directory (without renaming the aforementioned file) results in a permanent "busy" mouse pointer in Nautilus, at least until one navigating to a different directory. As there is no obvious reason for the mouse pointer to remain "busy" indefinitely until the user takes action, this is not expected behavior. Steps to reproduce: 1. Enter a directory in Nautilus. 2. Right click any file in that directory, and select "Rename..." 3. Without doing anything else in Nautilus, click the "Up" arrow to navigate to the parent directory. 4. Watch as the mouse pointer changes to the "busy" icon, and remains so indefinitely until you navigate to another folder. Actual results: The mouse pointer remains "busy" indefinitely in Nautilus, until navigating to another directory. Expected results: One would expect that the mouse pointer would return to normal after navigating successfully to the parent directory. Does this happen every time? Yes. Other information: This bug also occurs in at least Nautilus 2.22.
This bug was initially reported on Launchpad in Ubuntu Hardy: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/381824
