What version of gnome-libs do you have ?
What distro are you using ?
Does this happen everytime that ghex is ran or just the first time ?

Believed to be fixed by my patch to gnome-dock.c from about a month
ago. If someone still reproduces this with the latest gnome-libs, reopen.
