GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 582800
Screensaver unlock dialog buttons unclickable after switching users and logging out
Last modified: 2014-08-20 20:24:17 UTC
This bug was originally reported here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-screensaver/+bug/225974 The buttons on the gnome-screensaver lock screen dialog are unclickable after logging into Gnome, switching to a different user, and logging out of the 2nd user. When you are presented with the dialog box to enter the password to log back in as the 1st user, the buttons on the dialog are unclickable. On the dialog with unclickable buttons, typing in the password and pressing the Enter key does allow the user to log in, but to access the other buttons you must use the Tab key to navigate the dialog, and the space bar to activate the button. I first noticed this bug in gnome-screensaver 2.22.x in Ubuntu 8.04 and have confirmed that the bug still exists in version 2.24.x in Ubuntu 9.04. Steps to recreate: 1. Login as User A 2. Switch user to User B 3. Log out of User B 4. (expected) Type User A's password and click Unlock (actual) Type User A's password and press Shift+Tab, Enter or Meta+U, because the Unlock button cannot be clicked This bug does not appear to be re-creatable 100% of the time. I have access to 3 Ubuntu 9.04 installations, and I cannot recreate this bug on one of them.
The screen lock is now implemented directly in gnome-shell, not in gnome-screensaver (as it was with older version of GNOME 3 and GNOME 2.x). If the reported problems persists in recent versions of GNOME, please file a new bug against gnome-shell with the "lock-screen" component selected. If your installation is an older version of GNOME that cannot be upgraded (such as an enterprise version), please use the appropriate support mechanism from your vendor, or your distribution instead.
