In gnumeric-1.8.3 and 1.8.4, when I export html (HTML-4.0 or XHTML), bold and italic settings are not exported.

A query on the gnumeric-list reveals that "(as of 1.9.7) bold and italic settings are only exported if they are attached to the whole cell" but
"Character specific formatting within a cell is at this time not
exported."

I would like to be able also to export format settings within a cell, e.g., a word or phrase in italic or bold within a string in a cell.

This problem has been fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. Thank you for your bug report.
