@shane.wims

IMHO your observation makes sense, but this translation isn't 100% incorrect according with our translation rules for pt_BR.

Open this link: http://vp.godoy.homeip.net/busca/?id=&categoria=&idioma=&local=&termo=floppy and you will see that we follow this guide when we are uncertain about some english term.

For pt_BR: Floppy disk drive → Drive de disquete

Greets.

I prefer translating "drive" as "unidade", but the standard terminology prescribes "drive". I just checked OT, and apparenhtly "unidade" is a very common translation. I couldn't find this discussion in the ldp-br list, so I'm starting it now.
Comment 3 Leonardo Ferreira Fontenelle 2009-06-29 23:26:55 UTC
This will be fixed for GNOME 2.28.
Comment 4 Henrique P Machado 2009-11-28 02:52:06 UTC
This was discussed with the LDP-BR participants and we all agreed to translate "Drive" as "Unidade".

Closing this BR.
